Making a difference: workforce skills and capacity for integrated care

Purpose The aim of this action research was to explore, from a workforce and patient/carer perspective, the skills capacity required deliver integrated care inform future development planning in new system England. Design/methodology/approach Semi-structured interviews focus groups with primary, community, acute care, social voluntary frontline managerial staff patients carers receiving these services were undertaken. Data explored using framework analysis. Findings Analysis revealed three overarching themes: achieving teamwork integration, managing demands on capability delivering holistic user-centred care. An organisational (OD) process developed as part facilitate large-scale changes taking place. Research limitations/implications This study did not consider challenges for nursing residential, homes or domiciliary services. is integral pathways many patients, line current emerging national sector, require further examination.
